I decided to visit the military base, my first time. It took me, roughly, two game-time months to clear the trees and kill all zombies.

Right click anywhere then you'll see an option called set area something, there's a choice called set base area click it then use left click and drag all over your place, even though the area isn't highlighted it is working then once you're done right click once again, select set area, then click base area and click set.
