My DM gives us a free Archetype feat every 4 levels, so I was looking at builds that would make use of that, and landed on making a Monk with the Magus Archetype, specifically so I could get access to the Dimensional Assault Focus Spell.Outside of thief rogues, archer builds and druids, I can't see any reason to ever build dex in pf2e given how trivial it is to get heavy armor prof for bulwark. In this case, freeing up dex allows a magus to have ideal stats by investing in str/con/int/wis and further boosting by taking dex and cha flaws (usually for more con).Given the builds above, you can create a good Magus with almost every race: anything with a boost to str, dex or int is a decent choice. Of course, small races should avoid the strength build. The races offer various bonuses for a favored class; however, as a frontliner with d8 hit dice, I recommend simply taking an extra hit point each level.

If you want to use firearms as a magus your best bet is going to be an Air Repeater. Using a weapon that needs to be reloaded with a magus is gonna put a real strain on your action ecconomy.
