Kawasaki vulcan 1500 starting problems.

KEY ON - Yellow/Red has 9.20, White/Red 9.20, Brown/Red 12.15, Brown/Yellow 0.84. With the key off the battery shows it has 12.45 volts. With the key turned on the battery shows 12.25 volts. When I had the pump out of the tank I jumped the + pos - neg posts right on the pump with a jumper wire and it spins right up.Cranks but won't start. When the bike was hot the fuel line would heat up a little and expand and become disconnected, when the bike cooled down for about 15 to 20 min. the line would contract and reconnect. A friend (Mercedes tech) and I diagnosed coils as the issue, no voltage at plug wires. I let it sit over the winter as Chicago winters can get darn cold.

I turned the key, all my lights work and horn. It could possibly be the kickstand switch. To test this out, pull and hold clutch in when cold starting. If it does not quit, could be switch adjustment, switch itself or connections/wiring. Next, the problem of missing.It is normally good practice when a battery or electrical problem is suspect is to check all connections, check voltage and charge if needed, then load test it. I started it drove it down the street and it died about 100 ft from my driveway. I have traced the problem to the starter relay.

There are special gaskets (head gaskets are the primary gaskets) that keep the antifreeze from entering the cylinder area. I rode another fellows Vulcan 1500 of the same year and model and it was very quite, no noise like that. This is not a valve noise, its a severe noise which sounds to me like backlash in a gear set. Measure the resistance across the 3 white wires going to the stator. Value should be 0.11 - 0.17 ohm (1-ohm scale). Start the bike and measure the voltage on across the same white wires and it should be 54V or more (250v scale).
