Heavy profile barrels tend to have better harmonics/repeatable accuracy. But I've also seen 16" SR15s do almost as well as my HK with repeatable results. Profile won't necessarily matter as much so long as the medium profile and heavy profile share similar harmonics and rigidity. And there's a really easy and difinitive way to tell the difference - the 1:7 barrels have a conspicuous "178" stamped down near the trunnion indicating 1 twist in 178mm. The 1:12 barrels are not marked 178. Don't let anyone try to sell you one as a 1:7 twist barrel if it doesn't have the marking.
