I have both a Marlin 783 and a 25mn in 22 wmr. The 783 has a nice walnut stock with pressed checkering while the 25mn (2000 version) has a walnut stained hardwood stock w/o checkering. I'd rather not have any checkering if it is not real cut checkering. Both are eqally accurate with a variety of 22wmr ammunition.
