2. Tractor. John Deere 990. Our JD 990 tractor is having some start issues, that have been traced back to the fuel solenoid. We're wondering if anybody has had the same problem and what the solution was. Turning the key draws the solenoid back and lets fuel go to the pump, turning it to start releases the pin and shuts the fuel off.

Started but had to bleed. Ran rough and discovered 1st cylinder closest to dash is not firing. All other cylinders are firing good. Removed and cleaned injector for that cylinder.

Manual' TM1848 does not recommend using 0W40 as an alternative for temp variance (-22 F to + 86 F ). I got a call back from Castrol.ca and they do not carry an 5W30 with diesel rating equivalent.
Was trying to figure out what disks were on the Deere 990 that were falling off, but am guessing it is an attachment you were speaking of. If it was Deere brand, I think the dealers all have next-day service. But not knowing the age of the attachment, can't speculate. I've gotten one of their aftermarket Rapid Response clutches and the weights and spring are for a gas engine which tend to have a wider RPM range than a diesel. After I raised the rear and rotated the tires, the left side was spinning freely. I pulled the left side axle housing and ended up replaced the pinion shaft. It cost me about $225 for the shaft. Plus some gasket cement and hydraulic fluid.
