The 3 options you have are: keep all the gold for yourself = 1000 gold reward and a minor reputation hit with the faction you are running the Vault raid with (about ~15-20% or so of the faction bar will attrition). With this option you get the max gold possible, and can still be "cooperative" with your chosen faction.
Honestly it’s more a matter of which faction is easier to grind reputation with. The settlers’ line within the vault is less buggy and it’s harder to grind reputation with them, so I’d recommend siding with the settlers. You can easily trade for the unique items each side would give you. 2.
