Metric magazines have a small mag well locking tab, pressed out of the body of the magazine. The magazine base plate will be flush with the mag body all around. Can also be used in inch pattern receivers. Some were made of aluminum. Just picked up an FAL with two DSA polymer mags and one Moses mag. Had to file the back of one of the DSA's and the Moses. I'm finding that the top round of both of these mags are getting dented and gouged just from racking a round into the chamber. Also I noticed while cleaning the rifle that a sliver of the Moses mag broke off.

The SAR 48 is a nice rifle for an entry level pre ban FAL. Be careful not to get a 4800 though, that was a post import ban weapon and many have been reconfigured to pre ban form.
