I have been living and sleeping in my house for five years, lately with wifey and heir. Now they only sleep on the floor and there is no way I can access either of the beds. I waited for a new season - no change. I improved wifey's mood with a gift, but still I can't go to bed! Honestly, just add the ability to sleep at any fire. That solves the problem and would be easy to implement I'd imagine. You can build a fire just outside a settlement and sleep there.
