4020 starting problems. My '64 4020, has issues with not turning over fast enough to start. Reasonably new starter, new batteries 550 cca, new cable clamps. Had a mech. look at it, and came down to ground strap corrosion. Installed new ground strap, (24v pos. ground system) connected right to diff bolt, after filing to clean metal.The John Deere 4020 uses a cartridge-style oil filter that is 6-7/16 inches tall and 3-1/8 inches wide. If you pull the choke out it will come back to life and run OK. if you feather the choke back in, it will drive around OK in lower gear. Always runs rough and always stalls out under load.
